Houston, TX - The Southern University Lady Jaguars defeated the Alcorn State University Lady Braves 4-2 in second round action of the 2008 Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Southern's (26-16) pitcher Lanaya Jenkins completed her 10th game of the season. The Bethune-Cookman transfer struck out four but gave up six hits to earn her 11th win of the season. Freshman sensation Victoria Stewart connected on two homeruns, the first two of the tournament, and finished the game 3 for 3 with two runs and three RBI's.

SU advances to the third round with the victory and will play Mississippi Valley State University. The Blue and Gold split with Valley this season winning 5-1 on February 16th and losing 1-3 on March 16th. On the year versus the Devilettes SU hit .206 and totaled six runs, 10 hits, a triple, five RBI's and 12 total bases.

The game will be played at 1:00 pm on the campus of Prairie View A&M University.
